Staci Barker Wood, 30, of Madison passed away Tuesday morning at UAB
Hospital. Staci was admired and loved by many friends and relatives.
She was diagnosed at age 6 with cystic fibrosis and received a living
donor lung lobe transplant at age 21 in Los Angeles. The donors were
Staci's cousins, Paul and Michael Linder. She was a graduate of UAH
and worked at TARCOG. Bill Esterling wrote articles on Staci in the
Huntsville Times. Survivors include her husband, Christopher Scott Wood;
two beloved dogs, Lily and Clifford; parents, Don and Linda Barker of
Madison; father and mother-in-law, Ken and Sylvia Wood of Huntsville;
sister, Sheri Guenster and husband, Dirk, of Hoover; brothers-in-law,
Todd Wood and wife, Nicole, and Kendel Wood, all of Huntsville; two
nieces, Eva Guenster and Alex Wood; and a nephew, Garrett Wood. Visitation
will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Laughlin
Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday
at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Phil O'Kennedy officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family strongly suggest that
everyone be an organ donor.
