Sunday, March 31, 2002 Georgia On My Mind ![]() We visited Kristin's grandparents and parents in Georgia yesterday - a relatively short trip made interminably long by Parker, who cried virtually the whole way, except when he was asleep. In Jacksonville, we played Death Race 2000 with a highway cleaning crew. A worker decided to run through uncoming traffic to get to the median, nearly being sideswiped by the van in front of us. This scenario happened again just seconds later, except this time, the worker was drivng one of those grass-cutting tractors! Across five lanes of traffic! Who does he think he is, Kevin Bacon in Footloose?. "Please Slow Down, My Daddy Works Here", indeed. We had a lot of fun, got to play a lot of Nintendo with Kristin's cousin Ross, watched some home videos, and got to take a nap. I found it really amusing how you could tell which side of the guest bed Kristin's parents slept on. One one night table was the book "Gallant Waif", whose blurb read "Kidnapped by an elederly member of the peerage!". On the opposite night stand, "Biohazard: Moonseed", which read "It eats planets. And it's Here.". I wished I had seen Moonseed first, instead of thumbing through Gallant Waif. Kristin's grandparents have a wonderful combination of wisteria and azaleas out front. Should have taken a picture. And we saw a hummingbird. Finally, we went to Golden Corral for dinner. This buffett was quite unlike any other steak house buffet I've been to - i.e. it actually tasted good. Especially a wonderful Bourbon chicken with a pasta cream sauce. Mmmm-mmm. ------------------------------------------------
