The Bismark
On Saturday there was a History Channel documentary on the great battleships and there was a segment on the Bismark. It reminded me of when I was young I had a favorite book, which had once belonged to my dad. Sink the Bismark! was its title, and it chronicled the whole story, from the Straits of Denmark, to the utter annihilation of the pride of the Bristish fleet, the Hood, and finally to the slow death of the Bismark at the hads on a small group of antiquated aircraft.
I remember how this book had really sparked my interest in history as a subject. It eventually led to a History degree in college, I think. I wonder if that book is still around someplace. I wonder if Parker will want to read it someday...
