Starting Solids
Parker is finally at a point where we're giving him solids. We have followed the AAP recommendation for breastmilk solely for the first six months, and now he's starting to eat his first solids. Our nurse practitioner said we didn't have to bother with cereal (he probably wouldn't like it anyway, since he's used to the sweetness of breastmilk), and he started with apples ... applesauce to be exact.

He isn't too terribly sure what to make of it, but he has been opening his mouth for it. I think he is intrigued by the texture, but just isn't sure about the coldness or the taste.

We've also started him on a sippy cup, since he won't take a bottle any more. He is not quite getting the hang of it, but we gave him some apple juice in it, and whenever he got a taste of that, we could tell. He seemed to be really taken aback by it.
