Fourth of July
Parker experienced his first 4th of July fireworks tonight ... he wasn't cheery-happy-squealy, but he definitely was paying attention. He had about the same look on his face as when he watches his Baby Einstein videos. What was really neat was that many of the fireworks were shaped like things ... I don't think I've seen that previously. There were hearts and smilie-faces, and even a planet with a ring around it! I was thoroughly impressed. Getting out of the parking lot was, of course, an experience best avoided. We ended up taking back roads, but got back to my parents' house in about the same amount of time as it took us to get to our fireworks site via the interstate. Neither trip was nearly as long as our wait in the parking lot. So be it ... it was better live than on TV.
