Hobnobbing
Friday night I went to a local photo gallery reception to introduce myself to someone I want to some pro bono website work for. It was a quite a shindig, and unlike anything I normally go to. I saw Gainesville's beautiful people, and ate black beans and rice and plaintains while listening to a live Cuban duo and looking at colorful photos of Cuba by a local photographer. It was fun, though I wish Kristin and Parker had come with me.

I only got a few minutes to speak with the person I came to see, which I admit did fluster me a little, as she specifically invited me to show up at the reception to meet her. Of course, there were several hundred people there, so I can understand, but it comes after several weeks of some potential clients who have dragged their feet in meeting with me, as well as some customers that after supplying first mockups I have still yet to hear from them. If you don't like the work, you shouldn't just clam up - tell the designer what you don't like so they can go in the direction you're thinking of!
