At 4:55 pm, I will wistfully try to recollect the moment Parker was pulled from my body. It seems like a lifetime ago. And, actually, it was. In the past year, my thoughts, views, and overall life in general have changed more than I ever expected motherhood to change them. I have more patience than I even knew was possible for me, and I have been able to positively deal with the many challenges our bright boy has presented. I still am amazed by him every day and I am so grateful that I have been as good a mother as I have been. I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I do believe I've done a pretty good job.
Happy Birthday, my love, my little boy. You are only a baby but becoming a toddler. I don't know that I'll miss your newborn self, when my life was a haze and I wasn't sure which way was up. I already miss your less mobile self, but only until Irealize that you are much happier now. I peek forward to what this next year holds for you and I'm pretty excited. I can imagine your vocabulary blossoming and you calling "Daddy" and Jeff getting as excited as I did when you first called me "Mama". I can see your steadiness grow and your appetite even out. All the while, I imagine your precious laughter and sweet smile, and the way you cuddle close at night. I love you so very much. I am so thankful for you.------------------------------------------------
