So, we're finally getting some feedback on attendance for Parker's party ... one aunt/uncle pair coming, one not. We're planning on doing chicken, either baked or BBQ ... maybe some of each?? I also will have some potato dish and some rice dish, since I have plenty of each of those. I plan on making his cake, so I need to practice with the playgroup next Tuesday. As far as a theme, we're going with the #1 and bright colors, like green, blue, yellow and pink, unless I can't find the Nilla wafers in those colors ... then it'll be red, white, and blue (since those patriotic wafers have been seen). I've thought of doing a wish vault for him (little cards for each party attendant to place a wish for Parker on that will be sealed and reopened on his 18th birthday; or a variation where it is done for the next year and each year repeat ...), and/or getting fabirc squares for people to draw/write on with fabric paint to make a birthday quilt. I want to find time to make a short video of his events for the last year (30 minute length) and show that and Baby Einstein series videos for background during his party. There won't be other kids, so it is honestly more of an adult get-together with some cake smashing ;). I will also pull out his going-home outfit, his newborn cap, and the blanket he was first wrapped in to share with everyone .. I'm pretty excited, and a little overwhelmed.
