Christmas in Georgia
Atlanta’s weather, surprisingly, is much like Gainesville’s…chilly, yet warm when the sun shines on you. After a grueling seven hour trip punctuated by heavy traffic and several pile-ups, we arrived at the big Peach. Parker has marked the occasion by finally getting in his new teeth – a very painful process that has left his gums swollen and reduced his diet to what food can be crammed in between frozen peas.
We got out to see the Two Towers, which was A.) Surprisingly not sold out, and B.) devoid of any of the supposed protestors to the film’s name. These detractors say that the Two Towers is capitalizing on 9/11 and that naming it as such constitutes “Hate Speech”. Ah, ignorance.
Going to see the movie took about five hours – which is almost the amount of time it takes to drive home. It’s the longest we have ever left Parker under the care of someone else, and we expected him to have fussed the whole time. Instead, he apparently was very well behaved and even went to sleep on his own!
Kristin’s dad has made great headway in making our computers act like they should, though the modem is still not working, and now the main computer has developed a new tactic of shutting off on its own at intermittent times, probably just as a drill to make sure we keep our Save skills working. Maybe this Friday I will let Kristin’s Baby Boardknow what has been going on in detail.
We have been trying to squeeze in making our Christmas presents in a little at a time today- being frugal has forced us to get crafty. There was much sewing and stuffing going on today, but finally things have started to take shape, and I am actually beginning to think we might finish before 4 AM on Christmas Day. It’s kind of like watching those last five minutes of Trading Spaces, or Surprise by Design, or…well, you get the picture.
