2003 American Music Awards
Last nights American Music Awards was quite a mess. And to think I was looking forward to it after tham warm and cheerful introspective on the history of the show on VH-1. The Osbornes were awful as the hosts, the ats were kind of staid, adn Pink didn't win anything.
About the only good thing to come out of the show was Shania's performance. She ascended a giant metal staircase to sing to the regular audience up in the rafters. Parker was enthralled. You see, Shania is his girl. Whenever the video for "Gonna Get Ya" comes on, he comes from wheerever he is in the house and stares mesmerized at the screen until the video ends. (Gwen Stefani and the Dixie Chicks have the same effect, though not as strong). At first, he wasn't quite sure; her outfit was different, and so was her hair. He stood a second perplexed, and then began to bounce up and down to the music, giggling. He even tried to 'touch' Shania's hand when she went to shake the audience's hand.
Sheryl Crow found a way three times during the show to make an anti-war statement. Later, she was quoted as saying, "The best way to solve problems is to not have enemies." If only the world were that simple.
