It's Not to be Taken Lightly
Yesterday I was talking a friend of mine who is gay and we discussed reality TV, particularly the smattering of 'choice' programs soon to be released by Fox. One of these is "America's Choice", in which contestants are eliminated one by one by phone voting until the last man and woman standing are then married on national television. Having not heard of the show, I explained the concept to my friend.
He stood silent for a moment, cocked his head to one side, and asked "And I can't get married because...? Oh, that's right, it's a hallowed institution."
