On Tubs and Teletubbies
Parker finally got over his phobia of the tub last night, and it happened as fast as it had first started. The bath began as normal, with him timidly standing in the middle of the tub, whimpering. Slowly he crouched, and suddenly began splashing, then sat down with a tremendous Plop! As relieving as it was to see him finally enjoying bath time again, it left me slightly annoyed that it happened when it did.

Like last time, I said I'd avoid them. But just like I get a self-destructive hankering to try pork rinds or Chicken-In-A-Biscuit, I can't resist reality TV, especially the current slate of Choose-Your-Date programming. I watched Joe Millionaire on Monday, and got hooked when the women turned catty nearly from minute one (think of a bigger budget Chain of Love). Now, the Bachelorette has captured my interest, and unfortunately it came on just as Parker got in the tub. I got out in time to see her choose Rodeo Man , Treat-Williams clone, Impossibly Good Looking Man, Sleazy Writer With a Tiffany Box, Rock Star, and Sean Astin Will Ferrell Love Child . Later I was treated to a glimpse of a future episode where Mr. Tiffany gets confronted by Rodeo Man, who informs him "You're shallow." I don't expect to see this level of candor from guys. I think this is going to be a fun ride, and I can't wait to see Brooke do the same thing next season.

And I think Star Search will be lucky to make it to next season. Arsenio's vehicle combines elements of both the original show and American Idol, with a panel of celebrity judges who have nothing really to say. Chaka Khan made her decisions but could not articuate why, Ben Stein rambled on and on, and Naomi Judd sounded like a countrified version of Confucious. Don't think I'll be tuning in again.
