Who Knows What Evil Lurks?
On the ride in to work on Friday I heard that the Keystone Cops that run Los Alamos are losing things again - this time, two tiny vials of radioactive material. I listened to this and thought of the level of incompetence at the labs. Little did I know that I was so obviously misinformed. You see according to our always-calling-local-talk-radio-Kay, the loss obviously points out to the fact that there are Muslims in the Los Alamos inventory control system. After going on about Jihad and how that "although not all Muslims are terrorists, all terrorists are Muslims" (hello, the IRA? Timothy McVeigh? Shining Path? The Manson Family?), our local host finally took her to task by asking her to agree with the statement that surely not all Muslims are terrorists, only the extreme fundamentalists. And her response (brace yourself):
"As far as I know. I'm not a mind-reader."
With one broad stoke, an entire religion is villified. I'm so glad that I had an opportunity to hear the race-hating, bigoted remarks of the gentry of north central Florida.
What's that you say? Surely this isn't the view of everyone in Alachua County? I don't know - I'm not a mind reader.
