All By Myself
Two weeks since my last blog.

The Saturday before last we traveled up to Jacksonville for my grandmother's funeral. As usual, I manages to lose the directions, but we made it okay, though Parker would have none of going into the chapel proper, so Kristin and he waited outside. I learned a lot about my grandmother I did not know, thanks to a wonderful eulogy written by Aunt Margie (I have to remember and ask her for a copy). A friend of grandma's from the senior center sang at the service, and it was truly the most heartfelt, emotional singing I have ever heard, and event thinking of it now gives me goose pimples.

We didn't stay long, as we had to come home and catch up on the mountain of freelance that had piled up. I'm still sorting through it.

We have decided to write off the Honda. It will be just too much to make the repairs it needs, and apparently it isn't even up to the scrap yards standards. I'm thinking of donating it to charity, like the Cars for Cancer benefit. In the meantime, until we can afford a car payment, we are arranging to borrow Kristin's parent's van for the time being.

As part of the agreement, Kristin is staying at her parents for a few days. I came home to find that our darling Lockheed once again peed on our bed. She did it last week while we were so sick, and we couldn't gather enough energy to clean the boxes without getting vomitous. Well, she did it again, and last night, after washing the sheets, she did it yet again. I took time this morning to shop around for outdoor housing alternatives for Lockheed, and am leaning towards a kennel enclosure that we can build a sleeping, tower enclosure to sit within. We'll probably let her out during the day, and let her come inside every now and then, but she'll have to get used to sleeping out there.

So today, she spent the day in the bathroom. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of leaving some book club catalogs in there that know are finely shredded, but at least nothing got peed on. It just made for a perfect morning - in addition to that, I had a meal of soft-boiled, too hot, and still covered with fragment of shell eggs. Yum.

Here's hoping the night gets better. I miss Kristin and Parker, and I have a sneaking suspicion I might have lost a bag with library books in it (I could swear I left work with it yesterday, but it isn't here, and it isn't in the car). And I thought stopping and eating lunch outside was a pleasant diversion :)
