Eight minutes. It is hard to believe that it has been since Thursday where going to sleep in this house was an event. There was often crying as he was being rocked, or hitting/scratching while he was nursing, fighting with every fiber of his being that demon called sleep. And we have attempted in the past to get him to do what he is doing now. He wasn't ready then. He is now, and I am thankful. He sleeps so much better, too. As hard as sleep was in our house, I would not change how we went about it one bit. We waited until he was ready, and he feels secure going to sleep on his own. I am in no rush to leave him alone to fall asleep, though. I lay on our bed as he lays in his, and read a book while he falls asleep. It is a peaceful time ,and he will often look over to me with love, before he gets the glazed look in his eye as sleep starts to overtake him. As I watch him fall asleep, I am awed all over again at this magical creature that we are blessed to have in our house.
