Saturday, October 25, 2003 A Long Day This morning, across the street from the aptly placed Historical Marker for the Run for Endurance, I participated in one of Gainesville's most heated shopping experiences: The Friends of the Library Book Sale. At this sale, the library sells its surplus stocks, plus the tons of books donated to the library it does not want. What a madhouse that is - several hundred people rummage through table after table of books, while more and more books are brought out to the smorgasboard. I got there early - one hour to get in, one hour or so inside, and then three hours to get out. Whew! I got Parker a huge stack of cheap books, some for myself and for Kristin, and a score of cheap cds. I probably went overboard on the cds - I underestimated their cost as I was pulling them out. But it was still a good deal - like signing up for Columbia House without the catches. Got the house clean and vacuumed, dishes done, the garbage out, laundry started - even had time to wrap some Christmas presents and do a little weeding. Freelance stayed quiet, which is good, cause it gave that chance to catch up. Tomorrow - the Jacksonville Air and Naval Show. Kristin and Parker just got back and Parker is busy catching up on everything in the house. I'm very glad they are home and safe, and that I have more than cats to keep me company. ------------------------------------------------
