Parker has been doing so well with going to sleep lately, it really sucks that he woke up this morning at 6:45 am vomiting. I'm not exactly sure what is up, but everything that has gone down so far has come back up. He is still energetic and happy, but I'm sure like the last time he had a stomach virus, by evening he will be miserable, whiney, and intermittently sleeping. We've already moved a mattress into the living room in preparation (and to help protect the couch, which has already lost its slipcover.
Last night, Jeff got news that his grandmother, who had been in hospice care for about a week in her nursing home, passed away. About 3 weeks ago, she suffered a stroke, and we knew the end was in sight. I'm so glad we got to go up there to see her last weekend, but I'm still sad that there wasn't more time for Jeff to say his goodbyes. Parker was a little unnerved by the setting and seeing her in the hospital bed, and that kept Jeff out of the room for a bit. But, I know she knew we came to see her, and I think seeing Parker brightened her day at least a little bit. That is good to know.
Speaking of grandparents, my paternal grandfather and his wife stopped by for an overnight visit this Sunday after visiting with her daughter on the coast. It was nice to see them and Parker really did take to them quickly. Our shy, reserved boy is just blossoming, and it is a joy to see. We went to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner, and Parker tried everything on the salad bar (and almost as promptly spit it out). He enjoyed the pumpernickel croutons dipped in bleu cheese dressing the best.------------------------------------------------
