Trains, trains and more trains!!! Yesterday, we went to playgroup to celebrate Parker's friend, Braden's 2nd birthday. Braden had gotten a train set, and they were borrowing a train table from their neighbors. The entire thing was train-themed, and Parker was completely in his element. In fact, we got there about 11:45, and when I decided we should leave, at 4 pm, he threw a fit because we were leaving the table. He pretty much played exclusively with it (except for a short break to have cake and some other nutrition), and got upset at times when others wanted to join in. Since we ended up not having a birthday playgroup for Parker, he got many of his gifts yesterday (Jennifer, Stephen's mom, gave it to him last week). So, from his playgroup friends, he now has 3 new trains: 1 motorized engine; 1 set of motorized engine and light up passenger car; and 1 long train with coal car. He also received three books (Train Song, Chicka Chicka Sticka Sticka and The Foot Book by Seuss), a part-wooden push-go car, some play-dough with shapes cutters. He napped for about 20 minutes on the ride home, and when we got there, it was back to train fascination. We set up his little wooden track, took out all of his new trains, and sent them on their merry way. He seemed to be loving the motorized engines the most, and would get so upset when the track would get messed up.
So, for Christmas, Jeff and I have already purchased him a big train set with a table. We found it on eBay, and it seems like a great bargain. I truly hope we aren't sorely disappointed. I know Parker is going to love it. I am already envisioning him going to bed on Christmas Eve, us putting together the table, so when he wakes up Christmas morning, he will be terribly surprised. I'm excited about it already!!! Last year, we really didn't do much for Christmas. Mainly because he didn't know the difference. But, I know this year will be special. It will be like his first Christmas ever, really. He'll totally be into it, I'm sure. 'Tis the season, right? (Well, not yet, but now I kinda understand the stores' desire to start marketing now).
