Photo Day
I spent all Thursday in Orlando after dropping Shelli off at the airport. I learned a pertinent fact about Orlando: it is impossible to drive from one side of the city to the other without having to pay a toll at least once. I thought I had found a circuitous route to Disney World through the city, only to find that the road turned into a toll road for the last five miles to Disney. Typical.
I walked through a lot of Disney - the Marketplace, Epcot, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin, and the Magic Kingdom. The camera equipment got really heavy by the end of the day, but it went well, especially as I did not have to watch out for Parker at the same time. I also found a reasonable eatery in the Kingdom, where full meal ran about 6 dollars. Not bad, considering about twenty feet away hot dogs were 4 dollars apiece!
Basically I frittered the day away waiting to take some nighttime fireworks photos. Unfortunately that did not go as well as planned. My SLR, which was operating fine during the day, developed a strange hiccup while using the 800 speed film and the remote. Sometimes the camera would refuse to take the next photo after advancing the film. It would correct itself, but it took far too slowly to get many photos of the fireworks show. Luckily, I had the foresight to purchase a second tripod prior to entering the park, so I was able to set up the digital photos with it as well. I have not yet looked at either set, but I think there are some good shots between them. I will wait until I switch back to 400 speed to see if the problem persists with the Canon.
