Well, Jeff and I have decided to give our home a very contemporary look, and spent all day yesterday pulling up the weeds in our front planting beds, putting down landscaping fabric, and then starting to move the 5-tons of river rock we had delivered. We've gotten one bed completely finished and will have to work on the other this evening. One of the things we did was move the two scraggly rose bushes I've ignored since planting them three years ago , and after we moved them ... Parker ran into it!! He has a long scratch on his cheek and a small one over his eye ... poor bug . We're talking about putting potted plants out, but how do you keep those from drying up quickly .. .do you have to water them daily? Anyone have success with outdoor potted plants?
Also, we are going to do the square foot gardening, we have the lumber, the compost, the peat moss and the vermiculite, and the area, but it is uneven, so we were waiting on the river rock to put around the boxes so soil wouldn't pour out from under them ... I think we're going to get some pre-grown plants from the Farmer's Market here to start ... and go with seeded plants for later summer. If nothing else, we'll be set up for Fall !
