Well, we went today to the City of Newberry Annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by Milam Funeral Home.
There was SO much to see!!! There was a barrel-train, a horse-drawn carriage ride, a bounce-house, a petting farm, snacks, the Easter Bunny, and, of course, the actual Easter Egg Hunt itself.
Our first stop was the petting farm ... Parker was in heaven, though he enjoyed himself much more on the outside of the pen than the inside. He felt in LOVE with this "Baa mama-baby" group ...
We toyed with the idea of letting him go on the train, but we were wary, as he was likely to throw a fit if we didn't go with, and adults weren't allowed. So, we stood in line for the horse-drawn carriage, but it was the SLOWEST MOVING LINE EVER ... slower than even at Disney!! So, we gave up on that, and went back to the animals, much to Parker's delight.
Then, there was the hunt itself. This child has never seen an egg hunt before, and we didn't really explain it. But, he knew what to do instinctively ...
He got a god rhythm going, and eventually left his basket in a central location, and went to get more and more eggs to bring back to it. I was most afraid some older, smarter kid would just steal the eggs from his basket, but he was lucky this year. I'll have to advise him to guard his basket next year, when he's in with older kids. He brought back his basket eager to show us his "loot" ...
And, even though the hunt was done, wanted to go walking where the big kids were to make sure they didn't forget any ...
After the egg hunt, we stood in line for the bounce house, but once he was in and realized we weren't coming too, he wanted out. He then wanted to examine his eggs, so we took that as out cue to leave. He had such a great time, he ended up not napping all day ... talk about exciting.
