If You Love Chewie, You Should Love Rupert
I'm voting for Rupert. I don't care what those who hate his guts, and Miss Ali and Television Without Pity can go to the devil!
Can Rupert be a blowhard? Can he be egotistical? Can he be petty? You bet! But he's MY petty egotistical blowhard. He'a lovable lummox and is one of more honest and loyal people in the game. And you know what? America has a history of loving the bis lummox. Who's the most favorite character in The Princess Bride? Wesley, with his brain? No. It's Fezzig, the lovable and slow giant of immeasurable stregth.
Better yet, take Chewbacca. He's tall, shaggy, and sraggly. He laughs loud and bellows, and has a quick fiery temper. He's known to rip arms out of sockets! To boot, he's got a selfish side, too. "That's my droid, you filthy Ughnauts! That's my bowcaster! I'm going to take the meat, despite the fact it's a trap! No way am I wearing manacles!"
Come to think of it, Chewie has ALL the traits some people find despicable in Rupert. Yet you never hear anyone say "I hate Chewbacca". Why not? Is he because you can't understand a word he says?
