Stormy Weather
So, two hurricanes, and one to go. Charley at the last moment veered to the South, and we didn't see any wind or rain at all from it. Frances wasn't so understanding, and came just south of us, dropping about thirteen inches of rain, felling a ton of trees, and opening sinkholes all over. We suffered only a modicum of damage - a screen on our back porch came out, and the porch's flashing nearly ripped off. Newberry, to its credit, was right on top of it: although we had around twenty blackouts, the longest we were out of power during the storm was about three hours. Some others in Gainesville are not so lucky, and are still waiting for power to be restored. The last week has been some fun, as you are detoured several times from Newberry to Gainesville due to flooding and road closings.

Of course, Ivan is a more ferocious storm, and its current track has it heading straight for us. Kristin is thinking of going to Atlanta for the week with Parker, while I would ride it out. Some fun, eh?
