Friday, November 12, 2004 Carbo-Load Ok, I called the midwife this morning and asked to set up the 3-hour GTT, for diagnosing gestational diabetes. She seemed rather non-chalant about it, and just told me I needed to fast again and take a book 'cause I'll be sitting around for 3 hours. I am a little upset that I had to ask for it, rather than her stating that I had to, for the diagnosis, you know? I just feel like in a way I was being railroaded for something I might not have. So, the thing is, I've read that you are supposed to "carbo-load" or something for the days beforhand or something, like eat more carbs so your body is producing more insulin or some-such. Needless to say, she shared no additional instructions than "You'll have to fast again, and take a book". The other thing that is rubbing me the wrong way is that she seemed to be so non-chalant about me now taking the test, when she had said yesterday that they, in the office, just didn't do that. ------------------------------------------------
