NOT Fun
Oh goodness. This past 24 hours has NOT been fun. And now, I'm home alone with Kira and Parker. As of this moment, Parker is happily coloring with markers, and Kira is somewhat happily swinging, occasionally whimpering in her sleep.
But last night was hell. Both Jeff and I didn't know WHAT to do!! ALL she wanted to do was nurse, but then she'd fall asleep, lose the nipple, stay asleep for maybe a minute or two, and wake up to start it all over again. I mean, she couldn't have been hungry, right? So, finally, I handed her off to Jeff, who tried to get her to just suck on his finger (she wouldn't for me, just kept seeking the breast), which would work for a few minutes, and then she'd cry/scream. So, we checked her diaper repeatedly, I nursed her every few minutes, we rocked her, patted her, danced with her, EVERYthing. It was really horrifying, that this might become common in our house.
Oh, and it started at about 10 pm. She was finally completely asleep and in bed by 1 am. I am hoping and praying that this is just a growth spurt, and she'll return to being generally happy and easy. This is possible, right?
She slept great until about 4:30, nursed again, and slept until about 8 am. Of course, at 6 am, Parker came from his room and climbed into bed and cuddled with me. He also needed his back rubbed until he fell asleep last night. I think the new baby is starting to hit home.
