Is it teething?
Parker got his first tooth at 5 months. But Kira was born with prominent teeth "buds" for lack of a better word. She's been über-fussy and chewing on her hands. Could this be teething?
Other possibilities --
1. I'm spotting AGAIN, and even though it isn't likely a period (according to what I have understood), it could be a result of hormonal fluctuations.
2. Growth spurt? She's 10-1/2 weeks; the next "anticipated" growth spurt is at 3 months.
3. My milk supply is lowering -- I don't know why this would be, though.
Other things going on with her --
>She gets really fussy to nurse, and then when I am trying to latch her on, she'll just scream and scream and not latch, but then when she does latch, she'll often pull away choking, because my let-down is greater because of her crying.
>She's also stopped pooping every single time she nurses (it is more like every other time) -- Parker went 3 days between poops.
>She acts gassy, but hasn't seemed that way before and hasn't increased her gas-passing.
>Just Friday night, before this all started, while she was nursing in the middle of the night I complained that she was scratching me, so Jeff got the nail clippers (see where this is going?), and in the process of clipping her fingernails, he got a CHUNK out of one that, of course, made her scream and scream, and bleed and bleed. She wouldn't nurse to calm down like Parker always did, and was hesitant from then on to lay in the same position to nurse on that side. Almost like a prolonged memory about it (aren't they NOT supposed to have that at this point?).
>She is MUCH more alert and interactive now, and prefers to be sitting upright than laying down.
So, I don't know what is going on, if it is one of these things, a combination, none of the above, or what, but I just feel like I have done something wrong, or I'm not producing enough milk (regardless of the fact that she's been gaining a good 5 or 6 ounces a week, and is now over 13 pounds), and she's starving! I just feel inadequate, and clueless. I've DONE this before! This should be easier! And up until now, it really has been. What's going wrong??
