Tuesday, April 12, 2005 A Nutshell Well, Parker finally got better after getting sick when we were supposed to go to the wedding. We ended up giving him two breathing treatments on Sunday -- one in the morning and one in the evening -- because his breaths were hovering at 40. They were better for most of the day, and Parker was active and happy, and then that night they got rapid again, so we did another does before bed. He had a bad cough for most of the week, but learned about always covering your mouth and using soap to wash up or hand sanitizer afterwards. And it worked! Noone else here, including Kira, got sick! I really think we were super lucky on that, but still. Kira's face is still rough, and she still has dry patches on her ears, but I do believe it is getting better. She is a messy nurser (we both end up pretty wet afterwards), so I've been taking extra care to keep her dry during/after eating, which I think must be helping. I'm trying to keep her in as many 0 to 3 month outfits as possible (including some my sister got for us off of ebay that the lady didn't send for 3 weeks after she got paid for them!! Ummm, 3 weeks ago I could have used them LONGER!!), to get maximum wear. I'm doing okay, though I do feel run down. I haven't been taking the vitamins/iron supplement like my midwife asked me to, so I know that's part of it. I'm also just not sleeping well -- not because of Kira, she's great!, just me. I'm stressed out right now about all that we owe (taxes, hospital bills, utility bill) currently, and the fact that we have no available cash. We have payday on the 15th, and clients owing us money, but nothing "in hand" right now. It is frustrating! Today is our postpartum luncheon, and Jeff is taking an extended lunch/vacation time to watch Parker during it. Originally, our playgroup was meeting on Tuesdays to help me with that, but since then, two of the moms are now watching kids, and one of them watches a 5-year old every day but Wednesday from 8 am until 1 pm, so that made us go back to the original schedule. Kinda sucks for me, but I cannot for any reason fault another mom's need to earn some money over my desire for free childcare during my luncheons. Jeff's car has lost its air conditioning as well, and I am hoping it is a quick, cheap fix, as we simply have NO money. Otherwise, he's doing ok, trying to keep up with freelance in between work and family has been wearing him thin though (not literally). So, that's pretty much us in a nutshell!! ------------------------------------------------
