Monday, June 06, 2005 Let Them Have Pain! The Supreme Court showed how myopic they can be today by stating that state's medicinal marijuana laws do not shield individuals from federal prosecution. Not only have they circumvented state's rights, they have placed hundreds of Americans who found a beneficial drug for their medical issues in between Scylla and Charybdis - choose perpetual, unmanageable pain, or risk serving a federal prison sentence and still suffer that pain as you will not be able to get the medicine you need. What is the Court afraid of here? Can someone explain me to me how the side effects of most pharmaceuticals are not as bad, if not worse, as the side effects of using marijuana? Morphine is a derivative of the same source as opium or heroin, for crying out loud. If other habit-forming narcotics can be prescribed for pain management, why not marijuana? ------------------------------------------------
