First Pool Experience
We went swimming today at our friend D.'s community pool. It was nice! Kira is now old enough to wear sunscreen (for our ultra-pale complextions), and Parker was wearing those arm swim things. He soooo doesn't want to swim yet. Kira, though, is like a waterbaby! She just loved being in the water, and allowed me to do the one-two-three-blow/dunk thing several times, and she seemed to really like it (apparently that is the way to get a child to hold their breath to go under??). She did so great, it was nice. She even floated on her back, and did the "rest the back of your head on the shoulder and float" thing. I am so grateful to have these differences between her and Parker. I wonder if they'll learn to swim at about the same time, rather than at the same age.
Parker was really cute, being so careful to not get in the water, still not wanting to hold his breath to go under, and not even really kicking in the water. His hair got all spiky from getting wet, though. He enjoyed watching his friends, B. and S., have a blast, though. B. took swimming lessons and was all underwater swimming, and S. does quite well with arm swimmers on.
