My Son is a Youngling
Parker is now completely infatuated with the Star Wars universe. Original Trilogy, only, though - I'm keeping him old school. He absolutely loves to trip up Anteaters (his term for walkers) with cables, and spends hours looking at The Essential Guide to Vehicles, and everything from playing cards to Duplo blocks become Tie Fighters. His greeting for complete strangers now is "I Like Star Wars". He continually hums songs from the movies, from the fanfare to the Imperial March to Into the Trap, to the Yub Nub song, which he has only heard on the stereo, having only watched the Special Edition. Just yesterday he had a total meltdown when we told him he could not have the Lego Millennium Falcon, a toy nearly as big as he is and with enough pieces to create a tiny building block beach in our house.

Yesterday, he was playing with an old X-Wing toy of mine, of which I had removed all pieces tiny enough to constitute a choking hazard for Kira. This including the R2 unit and the pilot, which took Parker some time to get used to. I found him opening the cockpit, stuffing Cheerios inside. I told him that cereal could not fly the ship, which he emphatically denied, shouting "Yes, they can."

Later, I heard him in the other room, paraphrasing the film to himself:

"Red Five, standing by."
"Red Two, standing by."
"Cheerio, standing by."
